DETERMINE WEB SERVER EFFICIENCY IN SERVICING REQUESTS

Abstract

The ubiquity of websites across all sectors has led to a surge in demand for their
services. Consequently, there's been a notable expansion in scientific inquiry to enhance service
efficiency to meet the escalating needs. Central to this endeavor are web servers, which play a pivotal
role in processing these requests. This article examines the responsiveness of remote platforms hosted
on various web servers. It conducts analyses on factors such as latency between client-server
interactions, as well as the rates of request acceptance and rejection. Furthermore, tests are
conducted on both default and optimized configurations of Apache and Nginx web servers within a
local network environment. In these evaluations, the optimized configurations of Apache and Nginx
are tailored to the specific technical capabilities of the server system. The results indicate that Nginx
outperforms Apache in terms of efficiency, highlighting its superiority in handling the increasing
demands placed on web servers.
