Abstract

This article presents an example of a scientific study of the decomposition of biomass
at high temperatures in the absence of oxygen in a tubular reactor of a pyrolysis plant (PP), modeled
using the Comsol Multiphysics program. The developed model of a tubular PP reactor with a
simplified geometry significantly reduces the amount of calculations and reduces the calculation time
by 72%, which makes it a tool for studying and optimizing pyrolysis processes. The model is a threedimensional representation of the decomposition process of plant biomass with constant thermal
conductivity, density and dynamic viscosity. This study highlights the importance of using computer
modeling in the study and optimization of pyrolysis processes. This opens up new opportunities for
improving pyrolysis and obtaining valuable products from biomass. In addition, the results of this
study can be used to improve existing pyrolysis plants and develop new technologies for processing
biomass. Further research is planned to further improve the model and expand its scope of
application.
